Random Stuff - Just Comment On It Already

I'm back from Kentucky, and I'm here to share ten observations with you:
1. In Kentucky there are drive-thru liquor stores. What could possibly go wrong there?
2. There was a store called BJ's Adult Movies. Do people really stoop that low?
3. Everybody cares a little too much about the Civil War. I don't care which general went where while wearing a certain dress, everybody's dead. Although that little pink one looked fantastic on Gen. Sherman. Went well with the earrings and corsage.
4. I did not see a single KFC, which seems rather odd.
5. Hell with the Bible, locust aren't that bad. This year was on a 17-year cycle of locust, so there were millions of 'em. They were a little noisy until you got used to it, and their corpses littered the ground. Not...that...bad.
6. Everybody's fat but no one eats anything. How do they do that?
7. Everybody's happy until you talk in a normal accent. Then they kinda get passive-aggressive. Wonder why.
8. I saw only one black guy, and his job was to pick up piles of horse shit at the Kentucky Horse Park. That doesn't scream overt racism at all.
9. There is no #9.
10. Everyone considers 68 degrees as freezing. This should not happen.

I lived in Kentucky for 5 years and don't remember any overt displays of racism. Of course, I lived on an army base.
Outside of the army bases, yes, most white people in the South do not care for Yanks. And Colorado counts as a Yank state. It doesn't matter how hard they try, all those pseudo-cowboys will never be Southern.
68 degrees is freezing in Kentucky, where it snows once a year, prompting school officials to freak out and declare a snow day even though it gets wetter when it rains.
Did you see any Confederate flags? Because most people in the South own one or two...

Well we just got rid of any viewers who are from the south...You guys are
a) Racist Bastards(or is it rapist bastards?)
b)Ass holes that make super huge generalizations about everyone
c)horrible people

Jack, here in Colorado we also have drive through liqour stores(at least one in our town), Adult movie stores(god forbid), but I will admit the civil war thing=anoying! Everyone in Kentucky can make better chicken then the fast food place anyway, so they went out of buisness there. The locusts in the bible wern't the same locusts you saw in kentucky. The locusts in the bible were in the desert not the south. Stupid.
The fat thing, they do eat, just not in front of people. I have perfected the art. Me=Fat person.

I may have been overreacting because the plane coming in was hit by a huge flock of birds, and it took 5 hour to inspect it. So maybe a little tired. But still. I have never seen a drive-thru liquor store, mostly because I'm too drunk at the time. And notice, BJ's, not some random guy's. Fuck all y'alls.

In 2002, Governor Ray Barnes of Georgia reduced the size of the Confederate flag on the state flag. It became an election issue, and hundreds of thousands more of rural white males (read: rednecks) turned out to vote than in 2000, burying him in a racist avalanche.
That's offensive to Southerners, not what Jack or I said. Besides, Matt, we were both born in Georgia, so we're technically from the South.

I had moved to TN in the middle of those damn locusts' cycle whatever it was. Thought a house alarm was going off when everything finally was loaded off the truck. But it wasnt synthetic enough to be a house alarm. I realized a couple days ago that I wasnt getting a headache every time I took the dog out... they FINALLY stoppped x_x

James james James...The confederate flag is not completly(although it is admittedly some) about racism. It is more about southern heritage and pride. Just because YOU are RAcist doesn't mean everyone from the south is. That is descriminating and generalizing. Mind you, you re getting better at that every day, but it isn't a good habbit. I was born in the south, but I was raised in kansas, Nebraska, Alsaka, and Colorado. Only technicly and not really southern.

Matt, the Confederacy's constitution was a carbon copy of the United States'. The only major difference was that it allowed the ownership of human beings.
It was completely racist.
I know, I know, Stephen Colbert said it wasn't, but if you haven't figured out his neat little satire trick, you shouldn't be allowed to watch his show.

10 comments?! Holy fuck! Oh, hey, random person, wuzzup? Wait, i didn't delete that comment although it said I did.....fucking Google. I agree w/ the white Irish kid, I wasn't being offensive. Shafo, why is Kansas not capitalized but every other state is? Aren't you being racist to Kansas? Damn southerner.

-ummm, our constitution alowed slaves too. Maybe you should study your history a little better. Slavery wasn't removed untill close to the end of the war, and the main reason it was removed was so that england wouldn't join the war in the souths favor. Even when we did remove slavory it was only southern slavory, because northern slavory still exsisted. In fact the northern citisenz (abouve slavory line) were pretty much all racist. The only reason most of the wanted slavory banned was because free work (slaves) was a major competitor of them having to work for a living. They felt it was unfair. I didn't learn any of this from colbert, although I do belive that your a douche.
Jack, why do you agree with James about everything? You in love or something?
Sorry Kansas, I shouldn't be racist to you...but ohio oh how I hate you.

Cap'n_Jack said...

You have a point. I don't agree with Irish on everything, just that. Love? Haha. No one will ever love James. His parents even hate him. (James, you're adopted, and that because your adoptive parents had to and your biological ones hate you). Ohio is a deuscscshebag. Fuck Ohio.

"Southern pride" is rebellion against, and the murder of soldiers of, the United States. Yes, people in the 1860s were racist, above and below the Mason-Dixon line. I never said that the people of the North weren't racist, but their leaders and their law weren't.
Yes, the Emancipation Proclamation didn't end slavery in Kentucky, Maryland, and the newly formed West Virginia. Technically it had no real power, but it gave the Union the moral high ground.
To paraphrase our beloved president, there is racists in this world, and there are racism. It's not like, after the Civil War, everyone lived in happy tree fun land, and bunnies hopped around, and there was no more racism.
I made a passing reference to a deep-seated, still present, irrational hatred. Next thing I know, Matt's going to explain away the Boston Massacre (oh, the British were just tired, they thought the colonists had targets on them)...
(Jack, I accidentally clicked "post" twice, so it posted twice, so I deleted the first one.)
I ran this post through Microsoft Word spellcheck, and it found no errors.

Did you run it through a grammar checkar!
"To paraphrase our beloved president, there is racists in this world, and there are racism."
Aside from that, I'm not getting in this argument.
Apologies if you were attempting to poe fun at the president!

-James Larock

This is why I gave you a history lesson. Why are you suppoerting me? everything you said in your last post was supporting my post...you just changed sides on me.

I think I ma going to post that quote at the begining of all my posts from now on, to show your relative stupidity, dispite how smart you think you are.

their leaders and their law weren't.

Yes, they were. Refer to my last post.

About the deep seeded irrational hatred, you are implying that ever white southern man is a racist, and they ARE NOT ALL RACIST. I would go so far as to say a smaller percent are racist then are not racist. Can we drop this? Your wrong, admit it. I'm not coming back to read the posts on this post again(but I will still post your stupidity at the begining of mine.

I would just like to interject a comment as a Southerner raised in the South by Southerners.

A) It was not the Civil War. It was the War of Northern Aggression. The North won, so their name stuck.

B) For the north, the war may have been about slavery, but for the south, it was about "States Rights". ie, the ability for each state to govern themselves. Look at the history from the Souths side.

C) The idea of the "Tara Plantation" with hundreds of slaves or "Uncle Toms Cabin" was the exception, not the rule. The vast majority of southern farmers farmed the land themselves.

D) Oh, and point of fact, there were plenty of white slaves. Blacks were not the only ones who were held as slaves. So how could it be all about Racism??

E) Pick up an actual history book and stop relying on Hollywood for your education.

chickenboy said...

Wow. Well I was convinced to come back here from a certain un-named person.

I wont disagree with you about the name, just because it is diffrent depending on where you are in the country, but I do have some other things to disagree with you on.

Your right, it was about states rights...to own slaves. Like James said, the Confederate constituion was a carbon copy of the northern one. It had little to do with your ability to govern yourself.

I wouldn't say it was the exception, but your right, it wasn't the majority. Those who owned slaves may have treated them right most blacks has proably had good homes and food. They still didn't have choices that other free men had, and it wasn't the same as being a free man.

Blacks were the only SLAVES. Indentured servents are not slaves. It was about racism. I dont know where you heard about white slaves, but you heard wrong, sorry.

Again, like I told James, I don't get my history from hollywood. Maybe you should try picking up history books instead of making things up...

VAMPI COMMENT!
This comes from a Northerner(NY) who moved to the South(GA). Double the perspective. Double the Fun!

I'm not saying I know a damn thing so this is PURELY opinion based and I will stick to that.

First off, I don't believe in this "War of Northern Agression". I had to take Georgia Studies when I moved down south. In simple terms, educating all us kiddos about the history of Georgia. These are ACTUAL SOUTHERN TEACHINGS. And NEVER not ONCE did they EVER use the term War of Northern Agression. Why didn't they? Because it is a ONE sided term and it takes TWO to tango. Meaning they BOTH fought the war. Define Civil War. Civil War noun : A war between factions in the same country. Since the beginning of the war began with BOTH sides being a part of the United States, it is termed as a Civil War. The War of Northern Agression is a biased southern term used by old white supremists and who still have their head shoved up their butts and are unwilling to keep up with life.

I'd like you to reread what's been written here(in the entire blog) Octavia, if you even bother to look again. These boys may make a lot of jokes, throw in humor now and then, and add random tidbits of idiocy(no offence boys),but if you read a lot of what's said, there is true unadulterd intellegance and logic amongst them. They are nerds. They know it and are proud of it. So before you go commenting about misconstrued theories and wrong ideals, think on this. Do you think nerds would mistake Hollywood's mistaken fact-based-fiction for the ways of the world?

And to my fave boys who make me giggle; power to the pickle!...wait a minute.... o.O
